Come visit our beautiful 30-acre estate nestled in the Scottish Borders. Whether you’re after a unique meeting space or a base for outdoor adventures, Netherurd has it all.

We’re Girlguiding Scotland’s home from home

Since the 1940s, generations of girls have camped, gone on outdoor adventures and made friends and lifelong memories. Here at Netherurd girls can be themselves, have fun and try new things. From adventure activities to bespoke camps and holiday weekends – we’ve got everything you need to make your unit’s day out, or residential event, a roaring success!

Schools

Netherurd is run by Girlguiding Scotland – so helping young people to grow in confidence and experience fun and adventure is our passion. We’ve got 70 years’ experience in running fantastic residential events and outdoor adventures for schools and youth groups. We have indoor accommodation as well as outdoor camping available for both large and small groups.

Scouts and Youth Groups

We offer young people an experience they’ll never forget. From trying their hand at archery to taking to the water in a canoe, there’s something for everyone to get excited about here at Netherurd. Whether you come for an action-packed day out or choose to stay in our village, our Garden or Mansion House, or on one of our campsites, we’ll help you create happy memories that will last a lifetime!

Activities at Netherurd

Do you want to try something new? Netherurd is the perfect place to experience a range of exciting and adventurous challenges like climbing, fencing and zip wiring! There are also a selection of free activities available. We’re registered with Adventure Activities Licencing Authority (AALA) and our visitors come back to us again and again to learn new skills for our fully qualified, friendly and professional staff who provide a safe and fun environment for all of our guests.

Trefoil Guild and Leisure Breaks

We extend a warm welcome to all Trefoil Guild groups or other Guiding members keen to visit us here at Netherurd.  Come along and enjoy all our onsite activities or stay a while, enjoy our famous hospitality and venture into Edinburgh or Glasgow for your chance to take in all the amazing sights dotted around such stunning locations.

Accommodation

  • Netherurd House

    Our grade 2 listed Georgian manor house is full of character with high ceilings and traditional décor, all combined with modern facilities. It sleeps a maximum of 39 people and includes accessible bedrooms and wet rooms.

  • The Garden House

    A modern purpose-built space in Netherurd’s sweeping grounds, our Garden House offers space, convenience and flexibility. It sleeps a maximum 60 people and has accessible bedrooms and wet rooms. And the main meeting space can host up to 150 people.

  • Camping

    There’s a total of 4 campsites nestled in our beautiful rolling green grounds, all with access to toilets and shower blocks. There are dry shelters available which include fridge/freezers and water boilers. This accommodation is available from groups of 2-300.

  • The Village

    Our village is made up of 6 huts, 3 of which were donated to us by Dumfriesshire County. Each huts sleeps 5 people and comes with electricity and raised beds with mattresses. There are also 2 dry areas and access to a toilet/shower block.
